Books
for Enlightenment

There just never seems to be enough time to read as much as I would
like. But I have found the time to read a few books concerning global warming and our natural resources. The
books below have been eye openers to our need to develop clean energy resources to reverse our current climate
crisis. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

You need to know about a terrific new book by NRDC President Frances
Beinecke that could profoundly change the debate around global warming and help spur Congress to action at
last.
Frances calls on us, as a nation, to rise to the challenge of global climate change,
an environmental ill of astounding proportions, while we still have time to act.
Reading and sharing this short, hard-hitting book is an essential first step. But
change on a grand scale will not happen until every American of conscience is engaged.
What is at stake is nothing short of staggering. What kind of Earth will we leave
our children and their children? Will we bequeath them only photographs to learn what a glacier was or what a
healthy forest looks like?
An Inconvenient Truth--Gore’s groundbreaking,
battle cry of a follow-up to the bestselling Earth in the
Balance—is being published to tie in with a documentary film of the same
name. Both the book and film were inspired by a series of multimedia presentations on global warming that Gore
created and delivers to groups around the world. With this book, Gore, who is one of our environmental heroes—and a
leading expert—brings together leading-edge research from top scientists around the world; photographs, charts, and
other illustrations; and personal anecdotes and observations to document the fast pace and wide scope of global
warming. He presents, with alarming clarity and conclusiveness—and with humor, too—that the fact of global warming
is not in question and that its consequences for the world we live in will be disastrous if left unchecked. This
riveting new book—written in an accessible, entertaining style—will open the eyes of even the most
skeptical
Our Choice-- the follow-up to his groundbreaking AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, former Vice President Al Gore
explores the causes of the current climate crisis and what we can do to help solve it.
In this youth-focused adaptation of Gore's 2006 adult book and
Oscar-winning documentary, Gore and O'Connor (credited as "adaptor") distill the material, creating an eye-opening
story that targets kids' concerns. This version of the book is designed for children grades 5 thru
8.
I will be adding
other books from time to time as I have time to read and review them.
Only books with a serious message or plan to solve our current global warming crisis will be review here.
