DIY - Do It Yourself Energy 

 This section of our site is dedicated to those of you who prefer to make the greatest changes in your carbon footprints by building your own renewable energy source.

 After 30+ years of living on the road working as a mechanical designer. I decided it was time to return home and start enjoying life more. I left life on the road, purchased a houseboat and settling in to living on the water full time.

 It didn't take me long to realize that the fossil fuel guzzling onboard generator had to go. Being fairly mechanically inclined I decided I was going to build my own combination solar and wind powered renewable energy system for my boat. One thing is for sure here on the lake. If the sun is not shining then the wind is blowing.

 It seemed perfect to me, what could be easier than putting together a solar system, adding a wind turbine to it and generating my own power.

 I'll spare you the details of 8 months worth of digging through hundreds of websites or the 6 different DIY solar packages that I purchased, reviewed and returned. Looking for the info I needed to build my project.

I finally managed to put together, the right bunch of folks and the right information to Do It Yourself. Some are old school friends, some are old work friends, and some are new friends, met in the quest for environmentally friendly renewable energy. Friends that have the same purpose, to become less dependant on foreign oil and find ways to reduse our carbon footprints and reduce global warming.
